The subjects covered in the study materials and on the exam were identified by leading staffing professionals as some of the most important elements of labor and employment law pertinent to maintaining high standards within the staffing industry. The exam does not test on the law of any specific state; however, it covers, in general, how states’ laws may differ from federal labor or employment laws.

In addition to being familiar with the ASA Code of Ethics and Good Practices, CSP candidates should be familiar with the applicable chapters in the course’s required books: Employment Law for Staffing Professionals and Co-Employment: Employer Liability Issues in Third-Party Staffing Arrangements.

Additionally, candidates are encouraged to read ASA’s Staffing Law , a digest of recent industry legal, legislative, and regulatory developments, which is mailed to member headquarters three times each year.

Below is a sample of the type of question you can expect when taking the CSP exam.

Which of the following are covered by FLSA?
a. Minimum wage
b. Overtime
c. Child labor protection
d. Only a and b
e. All of the above

As part of the CSP exam package, you receive access to an online study guide and also receive the study guide in a traditionally styled printed workbook. Both study guides contain a practice exam. The online study tool is accessible anywhere, anytime. Each time you exit the online study guide, the last page you viewed is bookmarked, so upon returning you can begin again where you left off. After completing the entire study guide, a table of contents is available as an ongoing reference. In addition, the online study guide provides you with an electronic study experience to help prepare you for the online CSP exam.

By using the online study guide, you can review the study questions, select your answers, and be directed to where in the study materials you can find specific references to help clarify the correct answers. You can also take the timed practice exam, repeatedly, as you prepare for the actual CSP online exam. View a demonstration of the online study guide.
